After a previous post on my purpose of travel, I thought it appropriate to also examine finally the purpose of my blog. Yes this blog was intended to be a travel blog. I've been rambling on now for months on different topics sometimes only loosely related to travel. At times I have been lost for a purpose with this blog. But I finally decided that there is a purpose. Maybe not a particularly good one, but nonetheless a purpose.
I started this in an attempt to be a repository for my travel stories. That is still the primary goal. But I've been slowly adding to it over this past year to include other subjects. To share what I hoped to be amusing fictional stories from travel pictures. to look at science, and more particularly physics (really all science is physics), and loosely relate that to my travel experiences. And lastly, I've included a number of philosophical stories, somewhat related to travel.
So how do I combine this all to some kind of a purpose for this blog? Well, I write for the same reason I think everybody writes. To document, to entertain, to educate, and to offer a perspective on life based on my unique experiences.
Those of you who know me may wonder how am I possibly qualified to fulfill this purpose. I make no special claims that I am. Everyone can do this from their own unique perspective. Everyone has their own unique experiences and their own philosophy on life. They have their own special knowledge that they can share, which is unique to them. I'm no more or less qualified than anybody else, the difference being, perhaps, I like to write. Also, I have the time to do this where others do not.
I expect if you're reading this blog that you find some value in it. Perhaps it takes you on a virtual travel experience that you may not otherwise have. Perhaps you do find it entertaining or even educational at times. Or maybe you just don't have anything better to do. Whatever your reason, I hope it adds some value to your life. Otherwise, what's the point?
With only a handful of consistent readers, I'm likely not fulfilling the purpose of this blog. But I will continue on for at least the year that I've committed to this. After that, I may have to re-examine my purpose for this blog, or perhaps, accept the fact that I truly have no purpose at all.
As I mentioned in this post on my purpose for travel:
It is probably best if I don't examine such things as purpose. The answer almost always disappoints.
👍👏🙏😎
I for one have continued to read every day. I seem to get all the things that you have mentioned from these stories. The travel stories to all the fictional stories I have enjoyed. If you entertain at least one person you have a purpose in life
