Ok, it's been one one month since I started blogging my travel stories daily. Being new to blogging this is an evolutionary process. I've been trying to do two posts each day. One a travel story and one more of a philosophical or practical approach to travel. I'm still exploring to see what people may be more interested in reading. There are other approaches I may take in the future.
So what do the numbers look like after one month? Here they are:
Post views. 568
Unique visitors. 72
Countries viewed from. 9
I know it's not much of a readership but I'm very happy. People from India, China, Hong Kong, and Germany have visited. I don't know how they got to the site since I don't think I can be googled yet.
I really am not too confident of that 568 post views number. I think 560 of those views are me.
Most readers just browse once and never return. I'm very appreciative to the handful (I mean that literally as there are 5 or less) who read here regularly. It's a work in process. Thanks for coming back!
I really do enjoy writing. I've been doing it regularly for many years. I've written a lot of stuff that I've never shown to anyone. I do it for the joy of writing and documentation.
I have actually co-authored a book (reader Nick can attest). But it is intellectual property of my last place of work so I cannot share. I wrote it with a chemist with whom I worked. It's a technical book about the chemical process over which I was the Technical Process Leader. Someone (not me) actually published it on the internet which they were not supposed to do. But I think it unethical for me to reference it here.
Other writings I've done in the past, including poems and short fiction stories, regarding travel, I may share here in the future. I'm a bit hesitant as I know just because I like to write doesn't mean anyone likes to read it! I've found my stories to be more interesting to me than to others.
Eventually I'll make it out of the google sandbox and this site will be more discoverable. Google puts people through a probationary period where you cannot be found until they deem you legitimate. That period can last for months. It can be expedited but I'm not computer savvy enough to circumvent the process, nor am I inclined to learn.
I'll post the numbers again after month 2 in case anyone besides me is interested. Again, thanks so much for reading! I'm not a professional blogger. I don't have affiliates and I don't get paid to do this. I just do this because I enjoy it. I'll try to keep it up for at least a year. I may run out of stories by then.
If you have comments in things you are interested in reading, please let me know in the comments section.
